This time of year, we're usually busy interviewing and onboarding new mentors for our Harvesting Our Potential Program. However, because of the federal funding freeze, we've been forced to put critical programming on pause. Mentorship and peer connection are at the heart of our programming, and to support this season of mentorship, we need to raise $20,000. We know that so many of you are in the same boat as us: uncertain about what lies ahead but invested in building a socially and ecologically just food system. We know that farmer mentorship and connection are crucial for the survival of our local food systems and the future of sustainable agriculture. The Women, Food, and Agriculture Network is determined to support our farmer members during this uncertain time, but we need your help. It costs about $1,000 to support a mentor/mentee pair for a mentorship season. These mentorships have lasting impacts on program participants, leading to longtime partnerships, farm transitions, friendship, and solidarity. A donation to the Farmer Mentorship Fund will go directly to supporting our Harvesting Our Potential Mentorship program and help us stay resilient to the uncertainties of the federal funding freeze.
