Plate to Politics Workshop - Indiana

Registration is closed for this event
Women, Food and Agriculture Network (WFAN), Indiana Farmers Union and Indy Women in Food are combining forces to bring a Plate to Politics event to downtown Indianapolis. Designed to encourage Hoosier women working in the food and agriculture industries to run for leadership positions throughout the state. This one-day workshop provides hands-on skills training to women in food and farming who want to play a critical role in transforming our nation's food system.

Whether you want to speak on behalf of a cause, serve on a board or committee, or pursue political office, Plate to Politics is a great opportunity for women to develop their leadership skills. Attendees will hone their public speaking skills in a fun environment, network with like-minded women, and be inspired by women leaders. Women with an interest in helping run for office are also encouraged to attend.

Featuring

  • Keynote speech by Indiana House Rep. Carey Jeffries Hamilton
  • Lunch panel with local elected officials and community activists
  • Opportunities for networking with like-minded women
  • Learn how to move people to action through stories with Ash Bruxvoort, Plate to Politics Coordinator at the Women, Food and Ag Network.

The Plate to Politics program (http://www.wfan.org/our-programs/plate-to-politicssm) is a nationwide effort organized by Women, Food, and Agriculture Network to support and strengthen the national leadership role of women transforming our nation’s food system—from the federal agricultural policy agenda to what’s on our dinner plates. The program focuses on providing leadership training to women engaged in healthy food and farming to take leadership positions—whether on local, state, or federal levels.
