Women Caring for the Land - March 30th

Registration is closed for this event

Women who own or manage farmland in Kansas are invited to participate in any or all of upcoming on-line conservation meetings focused on soil health, which will be held March 30th, April 1st and April 20th. These meetings, hosted by the Women, Food & Agriculture Network in partnership with Kansas Natural Resources Conservation Service and other collaborators, are free and are intended to provide women with resources, knowledge, and tools for them to confidently manage their land.

Maintaining healthy soil is the key to productivity and environmental health for our farmland and for water quality. Women landowners who attend this meeting will learn to assess and improve the health of their soils and water through practices such as the use of cover crops and other conservation initiatives. There is no pressure to adopt any new management style—we simply want to offer you the resources, knowledge, and tools to confidently manage your land. Having a better conversation with your tenant or family members starts with having more information!

For over a decade the Women, Food & Agriculture Network has organized fun and informative meetings for women landowners. We aim to provide women with the information, connections and encouragements they need through informal, peer-to-peer discussions, facilitated by resource professionals. We work with landowners to discuss their land management goals and how they can take care of their land. These meetings will include informative presentations by resource professionals, women landowners discussing conservation practices on their farms, and opportunities for participants to meet one another and share their own expertise.

Three different virtual meetings will cover different resource considerations and conservation practices for different regions of Kansas: March 30th will focus on western Kansas; April 1st will focus on central Kansas; and April 20th will focus on eastern Kansas). You are welcome to attend one or all of them.

For more information contact Wren Almitra, wren@wfan.org or 215-384-3094.

These meetings are free but pre-registration is required. Once you register you will receive a confirmation email and will be sent a Zoom link to join the on-line meeting prior to the start date.
