Growing Community Resilience 9-30

Registration is closed for this event

Growing Community Resilience will take place Wednesday, September 30th from 4-6PM CT on Zoom. This event is an opportunity for community building through anti-racism and food justice work during the time of COVID-19.

We will continue our discussions about land reparations and models for collective land ownership. We are all coming to the table with different experiences, expertise, skillsets, insights, and resources, and this will be a space for us to bring what we have to the table in order to continue identifying avenues of collective action. This event will involve identity-based break out sessions for focused readings and sharing, followed by a coming together to discuss key takeaways and next steps we can take together and within our respective communities. Please have the following articles read before the meeting. If you are unable to complete the readings, no worries! Your experience and insight alone is worth bringing to the table.

  1. All groups complete these readings:
  2. Keep these guiding questions in mind:
    • Are there any examples of collective land ownership in your community? If not, why do you think that is? What models of collective land ownership do you think would be most feasible/impactful?

  3.  We will send the Zoom access in the confirmation email after you register for this event. We will be sending reminder emails with the link closer to the date of the event. We encourage you to join with a computer so you can have access to full Zoom capabilities. We will be encouraging the use of video and audio during the breakout sessions. If you will be joining with a phone, please be sure to join the call at least 10 minutes early, so we can rename your Zoom profile according to your preferred breakout group. New to Zoom?
